A Day in Tel Aviv Before TBEX International 2017
Tomorrow I'm heading to TBEX International 2017 in Jerusalem, the largest travel conference on the planet. I can't wait to learn from some of the best in the industry. And, in truth, this is my first TBEX, a conference I've been eyeing since I first started blogging seven years ago, so you can imagine how excited I am. But today, I planned in a free day in Tel Aviv, and I wasn't about to waste that before I move forward tomorrow! This is what I've done so far, and it's only 5 o' clock!
I got into Tel Aviv last night around 3am, then caught a cab to Florentine Backpacker's Hostel, which feels like a family. I've stayed at many, many, many hostels, but few have such an open and welcoming vibe. I caught a few hours of shut-eye, then headed out the door, and proceeded to walk and walk...and walk.
I started off by exploring Florentine, then walked the entirety of Rothschild Boulevard, which is essentially the main pedestrian throughway, as well as a seriously famous street. I stopped for lunch near Rabin Square, and was floored by how fresh everything tasted. After that, I walked down to Metzitzim Beach, and all the way down Gordon Beach, which was a splendid leisure space. Of all that, I'd say Gordon Beach was my favourite to just hang out and spend time, but it's a very pleasant city to walk on the whole.
Next, I swooped up to Newe Zedek. In my opinion. this has to be the most underrated area in the city. It's got an incredible vibe, with all sorts of creative and funky ornamentation left, right, and centre. Finally, it was back up to Florentine and, well, here - in front of my computer, with a fairly delicious beer in my hand. Tomorrow, I'll aim to check out the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Jaffa Port and the Old City, but we'll see how it unfolds. For now, take a peak at what I was able to capture today. I have to say, I think it's a pretty darn photogenic city.
